What do you see within the pattern? The white and black specks remind me of a dragon fruit. It also looks to me like quarts or marble. The lines of color that run through the white and black remind me of some type of crystal. How does the music work in conjunction with the visuals? The music is eerie to me. It sounds like some strange esoteric beat of some sort. It works with the pattern that is shown because they are both so mysterious. I have no idea what to think of it. I have never heard of something like it before. ### Translation Poem: The beginning 30 seconds of the poem is incredibly eerie. The white, black, and marble patterning is chaotic and ordered at the same time. It creates a feeling of creepiness which is added onto by the beating music in the background that sounds like nothing else I have ever heard. I can't even tell what instrument is being used to play it. **Woman and Animal Scene:** This scene is magical and dreary at the same time. The majestic creature in the back reminds me of a butterfly with its amazing patterning. This combined with the gorgeous pink flowers and golden butterflies creates the magical feeling of the scene. At the same time, however, there are pieces of metal and debri scattered throughout the scene as if some awful wreckage has occurred. This dreariness is added onto by the women in the middle of the screen who just stares at the video watcher. She has absolutely no emotion. **Man and Creature Scene:** This scene makes me really uncomfortable. The house is filled with wooden dolls that have no faces and the man himself shows no expression during the entire scene. The rooms mix color strangely going from grey, to blue, to green, with every one having some strange patterning I can't describe. The man isn't wearing any clothes other than underwear. Finally, during the scene a massive alien looking cocooned creature starts moving toward him from the end of the hallway. The creature has two big sets of red eyes that look almost like the marbling of the pattern shown at the beginning of the film. **Red Dress Girl:** The red dress of the girls stands in complete contrast to the wooded undergrowth of the rest of the scene. She points to the left which makes me feel there is something important there we never get to see. Mysterious. **Alien Planet Scene:** This scene makes me feel in awe, uncomfortable, and confused all at once. The patterning on the planet looks exactly like the pattern shown at the beginning of the film. This alongside the sky with it's blaring red, white, and blue colors give the scene it's magical like nature. The girl and fox look complete alien. It doesn't seem we are on Earth. When the girl looks at the group of onlookers, I got extremely uncomfortable. Every single one looks super pale and has no expression whatsoever. Some of their eyes twitch as they stare forward blankly. The scene ends with the girl looking back at the watchers and smiling. It's the only expression other than blank staring shown in the entire film. It seems important but I don't know what it signifies. **Tone:** Throughout the whole poem there was a majestic magical tone. Beautiful colors, odd creatures, and otherworldly plant life and sky created this nature. **Repetition:** The marbling pattern from the beginning showed up at the end once again. In addition, every character except for the girl at the end had no facial expression. **Authors Note:** Writing this poem felt introspective. I felt as I was watching the film I was seeing how things made me feel at the same time. Some scenes made me way more uncomfortable than others. It was interesting to try and find out why.
